SAGALEE: Arunachal legislator Nabam Tuki has stressed the need for the State to become self suffcient in agriculture and horticulture. He underlined this need at a meeting on the recently State-launched initiatives in this regard at the ADC Mini Secretariat here. The meeting was convened to implement 2,000 nutritional kitchen gardens and one farm cluster in each Assembly constituency programme in his constituency.

During the meeting, it was felt that the District Empowered Committee (DEC) alone cannot control and co-ordinate the various departments and stakeholders at the grassroots level and therefore, the Sub-divisional Level Empowered Committee headed by ADC (Independent) Sagalee, was constituted with the approval of the Tuki to aid the DEC.

A government land was later selected for the farm cluster; and a team of officers from the district administration also inspected the site and found the land to be suitable for the purpose.

Earlier, Tuki also discussed the details about the programme and instructed the officers to encourage locals to take up nutritional kitchen gardens. He also handed over 10 numbers of heavy duty sprayer and mist blower equipment, donated by Techi Rotu to the ADC Office Sagalee.
