Itanagar: In a significant political development, Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering has been appointed as the Deputy Legislature Leader of the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) in the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Tsering, a first-time legislator, is one of four MLAs who recently defected from the National People’s Party (NPP) to join the PPA. His appointment marks the first time he has been given a leadership role within the Assembly.
The announcement was made during the PPA Legislature Party meeting held on Sunday, chaired by PPA President and Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek. As part of the internal reshuffle, Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng was named Legislature Party Leader, and Liromoba MLA Pesi Jilen was appointed Chief Whip.
Speaking at the meeting, Vivek said the restructuring aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and fill key organizational positions across the state. “We discussed strategies to expand our base and revitalize the party from within,” he noted.
With the inclusion of the four former NPP MLA’s Namgey Tsering, Pesi Jilen, Tapi Darang, and Oni Panyang , the PPA’s legislative strength has grown to six members in the current Assembly.
The PPA, a regional political party in Arunachal Pradesh, is looking to assert a stronger presence in state politics with its new leadership team, as it prepares for future legislative responsibilities and political challenges.
