ITANAGAR: Union Minister Rameshwar Teli said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought the politics of development into the mainstream, making it the focal point around which political discourse and policy action now revolve. Interacting with media persons at a city hotel here on the occasion of the nine-year completion of the Modi government at the Centre, the minister said that since assuming office in 2014, Modi has remained firm in his resolve to keep ‘India first’ in every policy formulation and action. "This resolve is evident in the government's handling of both external and internal security, economic management, empowerment schemes for marginalized groups, efforts at cultural conservation, and so on," the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas informed.

Highlighting the report card of the nine-year-old NDA government at the Centre, Rameshwar Teli said that the Modi government has always believed in setting challenging targets and achieving them before the set deadline. "In the last nine years, there has been a paradigm shift in public service delivery and the implementation of government schemes using the JAM Trinity—Jan Dhan, Aadhar, and mobile," he said, adding that the JAM Trinity is the key enabler of India’s transformed and well-developed digital landscape. He said that for a country to prosper, it is imperative that its infrastructure grow rapidly, and the government under Modi’s leadership understands this sector. "The completion of infrastructure projects that were delayed over decades, as well as starting and completing new ones, has been the cornerstone of this government’s development approach," the minister asserted.

He added that, in stark contrast to the earlier piece-meal approach to development, the Modi government has brought in a culture of holistic development that leaves no one behind. The massive expansion of welfare coverage over the last nine years has motivated all Indians to dream big and aspire for greater achievements. Teli further pointed out that Modi has set a benchmark in reforms and governance that has become a model for inclusive development not just for India but for many parts of the world. "The Prime Minister has not only encouraged people to aspire but also provided adequate government support for fulfilling their rising aspirations so that every Indian in ‘Amrit Kaal’, can be a part of India’s growth story," the minister said.

Stating that the Modi government in the last nine years performed seva, sushasan, and garib kalyan in the country, Teli disclosed that the NDA government during the period provided free food grains to 980 crore people under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 11.88 crore households with tap connections, over three crore urban and rural houses under the PM Awas Yojana, and constructed 11.72 crore toilets under Swachh Bharat, among other schemes. Responding to media queries, the union minister informed that the Indradhanush Company has started laying pipes in several northeastern states for providing pipe gas service to the people. "My ministry has introduced an e-Shram card for the BPL families under which a person will get an amount of Rs 2 lakh on his death and a pension of Rs 3000 per month for all unorganised workers. Our target is for 38 crore people in the country, and so far we have enrolled 30 crore people in the e-Shram portal," he added.
