National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC )Workshop On ‘Best Practices’ Held In Arunachal

TEZU: The Indira Gandhi Government College (IGGC), Tezu on Friday organized a one-day national workshop on the topic, ‘Best practices for quality improvement in college’ here. The workshop was sponsored by NAAC, Bengaluru and co sponsored by SBI, Tezu and attended by resource persons and delegates from different colleges of Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of the country.

Speaking as resource person Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, IGGC, Tezu Dr MK Jana highlighted the objective of the workshop. He mentioned the various criteria prescribed by NAAC for quality improvement in higher education institutions.

He pointed out that the scope of the workshop has been limited to “Best Practices for Quality Improvement” which is the last one out of the seven criteria as identified by NAAC. Subsequently, he mentioned about several initiatives adopted by IQAC, IGGC in the field of best practices.

Principal, IGG College Dr Kangki Megu, addressing the delegates, briefed his experiences at RF College, Changlang, outcomes from various workshops sponsored by NAAC and compared the assessment and accreditation profile of different institutions of the country.

He emphasized that the higher education institutions should strive to fulfill the mission and vision for which they have been established. He pondered over various issues involving best practices in higher education like use of ICT, student feedback, etc.

Megu also drew the attention of the delegates towards the new method of uploading data online as prescribed by NAAC and expected that the workshop would come out with concrete recommendations which would be beneficial to different colleges for developing best practices.

Director, IQAC, Nagaland University Prof SK Chaturvedi, in his keynote address, highlighted the seven points for NAAC accreditation and emphasized on research and publications as the most important one for better scores. He advised the students to go for objective and original research honestly without being confused by the volumes of researches on the same field/topic.
