National Unity Day observed At Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh

TEZU: To commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “National Unity Day” was observed with a “Run for Unity” event at Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

The event was attended by Lohit district DC Prince Dhawan as the chief guest, along with Assistant Commissioner Sunny Singh, all the HoDs, GBs, contingents from APP and ITBP and general public of the district. The DC hoisted the national flag which was followed by offering of garland and flowers to the portrait of Sardar Patel. Thereafter, a guard of honour was given by the contingent of APP. Representatives of all religious groups of the district – Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam and Digaru Mishmi – offered prayers during the occasion. A pledge for unity was also taken by all the participants of the event.

Later on, a marathon was organized by District Sport Officer Tezu. The marathon was flagged off by the DC from Jubilee Ground and it culminated in Indira Gandhi Government College here. The three best performers in male and female categories were awarded with prizes.

BOMDILA: Commemorating the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the district administration celebrated “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” at district headquarters Bomdila and other administrative sub-divisions of the district with pomp and show on Thursday.

A mini marathon themed “Run for Unity” was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop where people from all walks of life participated.

An additional 100 metre race for junior boys and girls was also conducted for the students of secondary and senior secondary schools.

The DC while highlighting the life and work of Sardar Patel, opined that “The real tribute to him would be to maintain unity and integrity of the nation and by striving to ensure internal security of the nation.”

Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Sardar Patel and the “Rashtriya Ekta” oath was administered by the Deputy Commissioner. Later, a mass social service was conducted at Buddha stadium to mark the day.
