NCC Battalion Cycle Rally On Cleanliness From Raj Bhavan

ITANAGAR: In order to spread awareness on swachhta abhiyan launched in the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 15 senior division cadets of first Arunachal Pradesh NCC battalion have started a cycle rally from here on Monday. Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra flagged off the two-day Swachhta Pakhwada relay cycle rally from Raj Bhavan here.

The cyclists would interact with local population to spread the awareness on swachhta abhiyan at Gohpur in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on the first day and at Biswanath Chariali on the second day there would be an interaction halt of the rally to spread awareness on cleanliness, an official communiqué informed.

Flagging off the rally, the Governor advised the cadets to imbibe the spirit of unity, patriotism and discipline.

Recalling his days as NCC cadet in 1957 to 1959, Mishra said that NCC programmes help the cadets to develop positivity and ideal of service.

Complimenting the cadets taking part in the rally, the Governor said that they are the ambassadors of the Swachhta Abhiyan.

Stating that the success of the Abhiyan depends on the approach and involvement of the cadets, the Governor said that India is changing and in making.

He exhorted the cadets to participate in all social programmes and shape the destiny of the nation.

Earlier, commanding officer of the battalion while highlighting on the rally, informed that maha swachhta abhiyan was started in April 2018 to October 2 this year under Prime Minister’s office directions to all NCC establishments to commemorate 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

“As part of the culmination of maha swachhta abhiyan, a Swachhta Pakhwada is being organised from September 17 which will continue till October 2 next, comprising various swachhta activities like cleaning of schools, colleges, monuments, railway stations, hospitals, and awareness activities like seminars, paintings, photography, essay and other competitions for NCC cadets all over the North Eastern region,” the commanding officer added.
