National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) highlights working approach during emergencies

ITANAGAR, July 14: 12th BN NDRF battalion Assistant Commandant Brijish Upadhay had an interaction with the reporters of the state in the battalion conference hall to highlight the working approach of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Saturday. Brijish Upadhay highlighted the approach of the NDRF in various levels to provide relief in an emergency situation.

"The people on ground during any natural calamity like landslide, earthquake or during accidents are the first respondents followed by the district administration and then the NDRF team, so people should make use of awareness camps and workshop organized," he said. "During drills, the rescue of the people and saving their lives are top priorities due to which many a time mediapersons are not allowed to report beyond the line of accident scene." He was answering to a reporter when asked of not allowing the reporters to enter the line accident scene.

Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) President Mukul Pathak also present at the meeting highlighted the hurdles faced by the reporters during reporting.He also requested the NDRF officials to conduct workshop for the reporters on safety measures.

"Reporters at some situation have to report where there is risk of life involved especially in situations like, landslides,collapse of big structures,floods and alike for which they need safety measures," he said.

Meanwhile, second in command Aruna Deogam assured to conduct a workshop on disaster relief and for the personal safety of the reporters in the state soon.
