Neelam Misra Urged People To do Away With One-Time Use plastics

ITANAGAR: Neelam Misra, the first lady of Arunachal Pradesh, has appealed to the people of the State to do away with one time use plastics and minimize the use of plastic in daily life. Interacting with the officials and staff of Raj Bhavan here on Monday, she urged upon the fellow citizens of the state to keep the environment clean, green, healthy and plastic-free,

Stating that every effort should start from home, she asked the inmates of Raj Bhavan to cooperate in keeping the Raj Bhavan complex clean and plastic-free.

“We must set a benchmark of cleanliness in our premises to motivate people around to follow the suits,” she said.

While expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his call for Swachh Bharat Mission, a true and real welfare programme for the countrymen, she said that this has been the need of the hour for ages, but the leaders have missed it all along.

Joint Secretary to Governor Mamata Riba Naksang and senior medical officer Dr Jennifer Tayeng also spoke on the occasion.

A documentary on Swachh Bharat initiative at Raj Bhavan, conceptualised and dubbed by Mishra and a PowerPoint presentation were shown on the occasion, an official communiqué informed.
