ITANAGAR: Facing mounting public pressure, the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) has pledged to complete the Akajan-Likabali-Bam Road in Arunachal Pradesh under all three packages within the stipulated deadlines.
The assurance follows a stern warning from the Galo Youth Organisation (GYO), which had earlier met with Leparada deputy commissioner Heemani Meena and NHIDCL officials, demanding urgent repairs.
The organisation had also cautioned that any temporary fixes on the double-lane road in Package II would be met with resistance.
In a written undertaking, NHIDCL Manager (Project) Abhishek Kumar, stated that all maintenance work under Package I, covering the stretch from 12 km to 33+ km, will be completed by December 30 this year.
For Package II, covering 33 km to 65+81 km, the work will be completed by August 23, next, except for the Rilu village stretch. Package III, from 65+ km to 91.928 km, will be completed by October this year.
He further assured that any other associated minor maintenance activities identified by NHIDCL or the district administration will be taken up without delay.
