KOLORIANG: The Deputy Commissioner of Kurung Kumey district, Santosh Rai, on Friday, in a surprise visit, cancelled the licences of five fair price shops at Koloriang Town as these shops were found guilty of selling rice under AAY and PHH at Rs 14 per kg for many years, though the actual cost is Rs 3 per kg.

To give relief to the people from unscrupulous traders, Santosh Rai has temporarily set-up a one-stop selling centre under the direct supervision of the district administration. The DC has stated that this practice shall be replicated at all circle HQs.

“Such steps being taken will bring transparency and ensure timely distribution of ration to the beneficiaries at the prescribed rate”, Santosh Rai said.

Meanwhile, an FCI team had a meeting with the DC and visited the allotted land at Koloriang for an FCI godown. The godown will be shortly set up to control corruption under the PDS system.
