North East Congress Coordination Committee slams NDA over GST scam

ITANAGAR: The North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) on Monday criticized the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for the GST scam in the country.

NECCC general secretary Padi Richo alleged, "One after another corrupt practices of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been surfacing; and the GST scam of over Rs 47,000 crore detected by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India is the latest example.

"Interestingly Modi violated his pet quote 'Na khaunga, naa khane dunga (Neither will I indulge in corruption, nor allow anyone else to indulge in it)', because according to CAG findings the Modi government indulged in the GST scam.

"The Modi government has destroyed the famers and petty labourers by bringing an end to the 'sabji mandi' and Food Corporation of India (FCI) and other agriculture-related corporations with a plan to corporatize the sector by handing it over to the Adani group, against which, famers in Punjab and Haryana are agitating."

He questioned, "Is this the proof of Modi's slogan — Achhe din aane wale hai (good days are coming)?" .

The Congress leader further said, "By not paying cess to the States and Union Territories, the Modi government directly hit hard the development process, particularly in the NE region and especially fund-poor Arunachal Pradesh. This would affect the poor and needy people. He apprehended that "such mindless steps would take India to doomsday".
