NSCN (IM) cadre killed in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh
Itanagar: A hardcore cadre of the NSCN (IM) was killed in an encounter with security forces in Arunachal Pradesh Longding district on Thursday morning, police said.
The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles on specific inputs about the movement of a group of cadres of the outfit launched an operation near Longkai Village in the district at around 8 AM and in the ensuing encounter between the force and the rebels, one cadre was killed.
The slain militant has been identified as a captain of the outfit, the sources said, adding the body has been handed over to police.
Two AK-56 assault rifles, one Lathod launcher and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter. The security forces have launched a massive search operation in search of other militants, the sources added.
Meanwhile, in another operation by the Khonsa Battalion, a cadre of the NSCN (K) was apprehended from Chasa Village in Tirap district Thursday morning.
The cadre has been identified as Laingen Wangpan (22), a lance corporal of the outfit, SP Jitender Kumar Meena said. Three pistols, a large number of live ammunition, opium and cash were recovered from his possession, the SP added.
