ITANAGAR: Security forces in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh arrested two cadres of NSCN-KYA and recovered arms and ammunitions from their possessions, a senior police official from the district said on Sunday.

Based on intelligence report regarding presence of the rebels of the outfit at Khamkai and Namgoi areas in Nampong circle under the district, a joint operation was launched by personnel of 19th Assam Rifles and district police and apprehended the cadres on Saturday, Changlang Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo said.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Nayan Kumar Chakma (42) and Gangwang Wanglee (37), he said. Based on revelation by Chakma, police recovered one Chinese made 7.62 mm rifle, AK magazine, safety fuse, radio set and mobile phone from the jungle of Old Longchong in Rima Putak circle.

Further, on house search of Chakma located at Khamkai village, police also recovered a Germany made pistol with live ammunitions, the SP added. On January 26 this year, an active cadre of the NSCN-KYA, identified as self styled Lieutenant Kamtim Rekhung (33), had surrendered before district police, 31st Assam Rifles and 149th CRPF battalion at Changlang police station.
