ITANAGAR: The Hrusso (Aka) community from West Kameng district have started celebrating the 'Nyethrii-Dow' festival in a big way.

On the occasion, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. B.D. Mishra also conveyed his greetings to the people of the State for the agricultural festival. People offer prayers to invoke the kind blessings of the Almighty for a healthy crop this year, to protect the harvest from calamities and damage. He also mentioned about how since time immemorial, celebrations and rituals have been the key to the elevation of human culture. It is indeed, heartwarming, to see indigenous people keeping their traditional ceremonies and rituals undiluted by modernity and is alive till date, he said.

The festivals of a tribal community bring together the village folk to intermingle and renew lost bonds for mutual cooperation and benefit. Their songs, dances, storytelling, enacting of traditional events, sharing folklores, community games, and tribal martial arts add to the joy, gaiety, and festivities of the day.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu also greeted the people on this five-day auspicious occasion of Nyethrii-Dow.

CM Khandu's special attention was towards the youngsters and urged them to participate in the celebration and requested the elders to teach them the essence of the rituals associated with the celebration. (Agencies)
