ITANAGAR: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and several other organisations from Lower Subansiri and Kra Daadi district have appealed the local residents of the Joram-Koloriang road to cooperate in the road repairing and maintenance work from Talo to Yapap Gyeko, without creating any disturbances. Addressing a meeting at Deed on Sunday, NES General Secretary and Palin Employees Welfare Association President Heri Maring said that the Joram-Koloriang road is the lone lifeline road of Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey and upper belt of Lower Subansiri districts and also very important from defence strategic point of view too.

“We need to extend all support and cooperation with the construction agency like the collection of sand, boulders, clearance of drainage system near the paddy field. Development projects don’t come by its own but by pursuance of the people of that area and we should only depend on leaders, we should do what we can do for the development of our own area,” he said.

“Conducive atmosphere is required for the development of any area, without which no development can take place,” Maring said and urged the people to avoid any form of complaint and obstruction in public interest project.

The road was earlier under the BRO and now has been taken over by the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd last year, he said and further asked the executing agency BB Enterprise to maintain the quality of the work as per specification.

A local committee has been constituted to support and coordinate with the construction agency for immediate repairing and maintenance of the deplorable road, a press release said here on Monday.
