ITANAGAR:: The Capital Police on Tuesday arrested Nangram Tapuk, working as a security-cum-vigilance officer in the M/s SMS Smelters factory, Lekhi village for allegedly threatening and physical assault on one reporter Hofe Dada.

Dada is a reporter of a digital outlet, and was reporting on the factory last Monday when he was reportedly accosted by four men.

Speaking to the reporters, Capital SP Tumme Amo said that the alleged accused Nangram Tapuk was arrested from Naharlagun around 11.30 am on Tuesday.

He added that a case has been registered in the Nirjuli Police Station under Section 341/325/506 IPC for wrongful restraint, grievous injury and threatening respectively.

"Though the section is bailable, the police will make sure that such incident does not happen in future to anyone," he said while assuring that there will be transparent investigation on the case.

Amo also requested the public to inform him about any kind illegal activity being executed within the SMS factory so that he personally could investigate the case.

On the sidelines, Amo also informed The Sentinel that the crime rate in the twin capitals of the State has drastically come down in the past few months. He added that most of the cases are registered for domestic violence.
