‘Operations Group’ reviews security of three NE States Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: A high-level security review meeting of senior Army officials along with representatives from the civil administration and Central Armed Police Forces of Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh was held by the ‘Operations Group’ at Dinjan in Tinsukia district (of Assam) on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by the Spear Corps Commander Lt Gen Rajeev Sirohi, Joint secretary (NE) of Union Home Ministry Satyendra Garg, General Officer Commanding of Dao Division Major Gen Rajendra Sachdev, Assam ADGP (Security) Harmeet Singh and IGP (Law and Order) of Arunachal Pradesh Sagar Preet Hooda, a Defence communiqué informed.

The meeting reviewed the overall security situation in the regions of upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

The forum also discussed the ongoing preparations to ensure incident-free conduct of the upcoming Parliament elections. During the meeting, officials from all the States analyzed the possible security sensitivities and measures to enhance synergy between the security forces operating in the region.

The proposal to form the ‘Operations Group’ took shape on November 12 last year, during a high-level security review meeting at Dinjan chaired by Home Ministry Special Secretary (Internal Security) Reena Mitra. Since then, the ‘Operations Group’ has held four meetings in Dinjan enhancing the cohesion among all the stakeholders in the three States, the communique added.
