ITANAGAR: Itanagar Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom reviewed the newly launched Central government's 'Padhna Likhna Abhiyan' (PLA) with the Executive Committee members of the 'District Literacy Mission Authority' (DLMA) at his Office chamber here recently.

Senior lecturer of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) R.K. Sah through a Powerpoint presentation dwelt on the features of new literacy scheme for achieving the goal of total literacy by 2030.

He further informed that the principal target of the programme is to impart functional literacy and numeracy to the non-literate and also the non-numerate adults in both the rural and urban areas across the country in the age group of 15 years and above.

He also informed that around 1,680 non-literates would be identified through surveys within the Capital Region who would then be imparted instructor-based teaching in reading, writing and numeracy.

Chairperson of 'Oju Welfare Association' (OWA) Ratan Anya expressed its support in achieving the target of total literacy in the State by 2030.
