Peoples Liberation Army team visits Eastern Command

Itanagar: A twelve member team of officers from Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) of China visited Eastern Command headquarters in Kolkata from December 21-22 last.
Western Theatre Command Deputy chief of staff Maj General Deng Zhiping was the delegation leader and the team was also accompanied by the Defence Attache and Assistant Defence Attache of China in India. During the day-long visit the team carried out interaction and held discussion on various subjects of mutual concern, a defence communiqué informed. A guided tour of Fort William as well as place of local interest like Victoria Memorial and Indian Museum was also arranged for the visiting officers. The visit is a positive step towards enhancing the bilateral defence cooperation mechanism between the two countries which would help in maintaining peace and tranquillity along the LAC, the communiqué added.
