ITANAGAR: In support with the National Federation of Postal Employees, the All India Postal Employees Union called for two days of strike where the state post offices remained closed. The employees were demanding immediate implementation of 20 points charter of demands.

The strike started on January 8th and ended on Wednesday . Speaking to this daily, the state divisional Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh said the recent implementation of National Pension Scheme (NPS) has no security for the employees. He said that under NPS the money is being invested in share market which has no guarantee of security. “We want the earlier old age pension scheme to be revived as it has security for the children’s and the family members of the employee,” he said adding that the department has less staff and the work load is too high.

He said that recently many Branch Offices (BO) at various district have been upgraded to post office. Though it has been upgraded there is no new recruitment and the existing employees of our office is being transferred to that respective place due to which the work load has increased in days, he added. “There is no problem in opening post offices at various district, block or village level but the government should also create post so as to minimize work load and employment for the youths,” he said. He also informed that the organization has been demanding the same 20 charter of demands repeatedly time to time but there is no positive response by the central government.

Speaking on better service he said that, there is lack of employees in every post office and the government wants to implement Passport Seva. When we don’t have enough employee added with no space for the construction of Passport Seva office, then how can we work to implement it, he added.

“It is also to mention that most of the district in the state has no internet connectivity, but the government wants better service in those areas. How can an employee work to meet the demands of the public,” he questioned?
