Preserve culture and language: Pema Khandu to Aka community

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has urged the people of the Aka community to preserve their rich culture and heritage.

While stating that language is the identity of a tribe, he requested the community to begin preserving their language right from their respective homes.

The Chief Minister while attending the Sarok Festival of the community at Bana in East Kameng district on Saturday, said for preservation of the Aka language and culture, the Government would establish a centre for preservation of the Aka dialect, an official communiqué informed here on Sunday.

Stating that Government is also equally responsible for preservation of the State’s rich culture and heritage, Khandu said under the Department of Indigenous Affairs, the Government is specifically committed to support all efforts on the preservation of tribal dialects in the State.

The Chief Minister also said that the district would witness tremendous development in the coming days; and urged the government officers to work with dedication to achieve the goal for growth.

He assured the masses that a festival ground will be developed at Bana and also promised development of road networks connecting all the villages in the Block.

To promote the Horticulture sector in the district, Khandu informed that the State government has been seriously pursuing strategies to enable market linkages for the farmers. He added that the State government is actively working to promote horticulture and agriculture across the State.

On shortage of administrative officers, the Chief Minister said that the State government has identified 48 new posts for Circle Officers (COs), for which the APPSC has been entrusted to conduct fresh recruitment, which hopefully would be completed within seven to eight months. The exam would be conducted as per UPSC pattern. Further 19 posts of CO would be filled up through lateral entry, he said. Earlier the APPSC had conducted exams to fill up vacant posts for 61 COs, which is now pending in the Court. As a temporary measure, he informed that wherever there is shortage, Group A officers would be given the temporary responsibilities of COs.

He added that as of now, the State has 138 vacant CO posts.

The Chief Minister on his arrival laid the foundation for ITI at Bana, Eklavya Residential School at Lumdung, Integrated Water Conservation at Naraba, Eco Tourism Park at Yarping and Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission at the Richukrong cluster.

Education Minister Taba Tedir, Sports Minister Mama Natung, MLAs Goruk Pordung, Hayeng Mangfi and Tapuk Taku were also present on the occasion, the communiqué added.
