Project Arunank of BRO launches vital bridge along Indo-china border in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Project Arunank of the Border Roads Organisations (BRO) launched a Triple-Double Reinforced (TDR) 180-feet extra-wide bailey bridge over Gazi Nallah at 41.025 km along Nacho-Tama Chung Chung (TCC) road in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The bridge was successfully launched on Wednesday.

The bridge had collapsed on May 11 last year while launching, killing five BRTF personnel, as the site is extremely difficult with a deep gorge.

With the improvised method in place of the conventional method, it was successfully re-launched under the guidance of Project Arunank chief engineer Brig AS Chonker, BRO sources informed here on Thursday.

The bridge will facilitate the movement of defense personnel to forward locations along the Indo-China border beside the civil population and also immensely contribute to socio-economic development and vast potential to promote the tourism sector.

India shares a 3,488-km border with China, including 1,126-km in Arunachal Pradesh. It may be recalled here that it was the TCC area in the middle sector where Indian Army’s Jammu & Kashmir Rifles jawan Shere Thapa during 1962 Indo-China war had killed 180 Chinese soldiers.
