ITANAGAR: A school principal in Arunachal Pradesh, who was arrested for alleged rape on a minor girl student, has been remanded to seven days judicial custody, informed a senior police official.

Bini Tegi, the principal of Green Hills School at Raga in Kamle district, was arrested under the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act' (POSCSO) on December 15, was remanded to week-long judicial custody by a local Court.

Kamle Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Gupta while informing development informed that Inspector General of Police (law and order) Chukhu Apa, has directed him to conduct the probe thoroughly and speedily without leaving any loopholes.

Tegi was accused of allegedly raping a 14-year-old student of the school on December 12, which had evoked condemnations from various quarters demanding exemplary punishment to the culprit for the heinous crime.

Vehemently condemning the rape of the minor girl, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi lauded the district police for nabbing the culprit and asked the SP to fast track the probe and file the charge sheet soon.
