ITANAGAR: 'Read to Learn Workshop', a novel programme to connect library habits to learning for senior students was organized by Medo Youth Library in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh on August 22 and August 23.

The workshop was conducted by the Forum of Activists of Lohit Youth Libraries, a new NGO formed by senior reader-activists, to popularize and strengthen the youth library movement in rural reading-deprived areas. Students of the Medo Government Secondary School and a few other schools in under Wakro circle participated.

Inaugurating the workshop, chief patron of Medo Youth Library, Dr Sopai Tawsik lauded the Forum of Activists of Lohit Youth Libraries for taking a novel initiative to target the senior students and help them improve their academic levels through library activities. He exhorted the participants to become readers and volunteers at the Medo library and advance their education standards.

The two-day workshop sessions were targeted to help the participants hone their reading skills as well as improve their command over English vocabulary through fun-activities, quite distinct from a classroom teaching approach.
