Road communication indispensable for development: Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra on Wednesday said that road communication in the State is vital for development and security of the nation and every step must be taken to make it all weather.

During a meeting with Director General of Border Roads Organization (BRO) Lt General Harpal Singh, who called on him at Raj Bhavan here, the governor said that the BRO has the onerous responsibility to ensure good roads in Arunachal Pradesh.

The governor and the DG discussed on steps to be taken to strengthen the road communication in the State. Sharing his experience of district tours by road, particularly in border areas, Dr Mishra said that every aspect of development, education, health and basic requirement of common citizen in the state depends on road communication. The Governor advised the DG to study the road construction issues from Miao to Vijoynagar in Changlang district, one of the remotest circle administration centres of the state.

Reposing his confidence on the organization, Mishra extended his good wishes to the officers and men of the BRO and exhorted them to rise to the expectation of the people. The DG assured the governor of the best contribution of his organization for the construction and upkeep of the roads in Arunachal Pradesh, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed.
