Salters' Chemistry camp concludes at Rajiv Gandhi University

RONO HILL (DOIMUKH): The 3-day Salters' Chemistry Camp at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) concluded here on Thursday. The camp was organized by the department of chemistry in association with Royal Society of Chemistry, London and The Salters' Institute, London.
Seventy students from 13 different government schools of Papum Pare district participated in the event. Students performed various experiments in the camp such as turning glue into slime/bouncy ball, setting up Sandlot clock and discovering fascinating chemical reactions.
In addition to these laboratory based hands-on experiments, professor Pannalal Goswami, retired professor of Cotton University, Guwahati, enthralled the students with a chemistry magic show. Dr Rajesh Chakrabarty, HoD, department of chemistry delivered a popular talk on the wonderful world of chemistry.
In a session conducted by the department of mass communication, students were shown documentaries on hornbill conservation and another on the impact of social media on students.
On the last day of the camp at RGU, students were taken for an educational tour to the RGU's Botanical Garden and the Rajiv Gandhi Museum of Fishes Fishery and Aquatic Ecology Lab of the zoology department. The 3-day camp concluded with a valedictory programme where each participating student was asked to give a short feedback on the entire programme.
