Samples of 25 Nizamuddin Tablighi returnees test negative in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: The 25 swab samples of Nizamuddin Tablighi Markaz returnees and their family members in Arunachal Pradesh, which was sent for COVID-19 test have been found to be negative, a Health official said here on Sunday.

The family members of the first COVID-19 positive patient in the State had also tested negative on Friday. The patient’s parents, brother and sister-in-law would be tested again soon, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr L Jampa informed. The patient, a 31-year-old migrant labourer, is asymptomatic and is in the isolation ward of the Zonal General Hospital at Tezu in Lohit district.

The person had travelled to Nizamuddin in Delhi, where a religious congregation had taken place recently and the area had since emerged as the epicentre of the coronavirus.

State DGP RP Upadhyaya, on Sunday, in a tweet informed that the State police has so far traced 23 persons who went to Nizamuddin Markaz; and out of them only one tested positive.

The DGP has also appealed to the people with travel history to Nizamuddin to voluntarily report to the nearest police station or Deputy Commissioner’s office and hospitals for COVID-19 screening. A total of 134 samples from the State were tested till Saturday; of which, 106 were found to be negative; and results of 28 are awaited, Dr Jampa informed.

Capital Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom informed that till now 30 people have been kept in quarantine centres in the capital; of them, three are students.
