Sarva Dharam Samellan organized at Pasighat

ITANAGAR, Aug 27: A Sarva Dharam Samellan was organized by the BJP Minority Morcha 38th East Pasighat Mandal at the Pasighat town club on Monday. Minority Morcha president and Chairman of the Tourism Department Cooperation of Meghalaya Sofior Rahman and state Minority Morcha president Loku Sono graced the occasion as the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Sofior Rahman said that “every individual has his right to follow his own religion and and practise his customs, and nobody can force anyone on these aspects. Being a Muslim I have the right to follow my religion as the others also do. This is what the term ‘secular’ means and for which the BJP party has been working for.”
Rahman added: “Though we may be followers of different religions yet we pray the same God; the difference lies in the name by which we address them. God has never asked mankind to create war in the name of community, religion or place. A few individuals and groups with vested interests create communal tension in the name of religion to further their personal agenda.”
Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, State Minority Morcha president Loku Sono said “every individual follows the religion of his choice. Since its inception, the BJP as a party has never been against any particular religion.”
Stating that “some people have been manipulating the various issues of different religions to create misunderstanding among the masses”, Sono appealed to the youths to be not led astray by such manipulators. “Today a few people use the term ‘secular’ just to promote their vested interests and create differences among people. We lived in harmony before and should live similarly in future too, as our country is a democratic country where every person has the right to believe in religious precepts of his choice,” Sonu said.
He also asked the youths not to be influenced by the manipulated video footages circulated to defame the image of the BJP.
State BJP Mandal president Dambuk Datik Ratan shed light on the gamut of activities of the Minority Morcha.
