ITANAGAR: The 'Save Arunachal Youth Association' (SAYA) in a letter to the State government has demanded immediate cancellation of party tickets issued to two non-Arunachale settled at lower Lekang and upper Lekang of Namsai district respectively. Addressing media persons at the Press Club here, SAYA president Likha Rajinik said that the BJP has issued party tickets to 2 non-Arunachalee settled in Namsai district for the ensuing panchayat polls.

He said that Jugesh Taye and Bijoy Neog are contesting for the post of ZPM from lower Lekang and upper Lekang respectively. "How can the BJP issue party tickets to the non-Arunchalees by violating the entire dimension of the Pachayati Raj elections. Which is entirely meant for the indigenous people in Arunachal Pradesh where all indigenous people are STs (Scheduled Tribes)?" he questioned.

Rajinik further said that failing to meet their demand, the SAYA will launch a democratic movement for the protection of indigenous rights in the State. He even questioned the AAPSU for being silent over the issuance of BJP tickets to the non-Arunachalee in Lekang.

The SAYA also submitted a letter to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and State BJP president Biyuram Waghe for the cancellation of party tickets to the two non-Arunachalee persons.

Earlier, the Namsai district unit of the BJP stated in a circular that the party had selected six ZPMs among whom while Jugesh Taye and Bijoy Neog are non-Arunachalees, the other four are (STs) Scheduled Tribes.
