ITANAGAR: In view of the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the country as well in the State, the Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to close all the schools both government and privates including hostels from April 26.

A circular issued by Education Commissioner Niharika Rai stated that the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) would also remain closed including hostels for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) students.

However, teaching for D.El.Ed courses would be conducted online.

The internal examinations held so far in government schools would be counted for assessment of students and rest examinations to be held from April 26 stand cancelled, added the circular.

The government-aided and private schools can decide on mode of assessment, including holding of examinations from or after April 26 only in online mode.

The summer vacation of all State school students is therefore rescheduled from April 26 till May 31.

However, the teachers are to attend the internal evaluation work for which concerned teachers and staff may be called by head of institution to the school maintaining proper SOPs.

The circular added that the result declaration after due evaluation with respect to internal examination should be by by 5 pm on May 8 for which necessary instructions would be issued by CBSE for internal assessment of class X and fresh datesheet for Class XII.

The coaching centres including hostels would stand closed with immediate effect. All colleges and polytechnics will stand closed from May, added the circular.
