SEPPA: The 13-member foot-based search and rescue (SR) team after eight days has now finally reached the base camp and will be heading towards camp-I on Sunday.

The team is in search of missing Everester Tapi Mra and his companion Niku Dao. The mountaineer went reportedly missing when he was on his mission to explore snow-capped mount Khyarisattam in the East Kameng District.

This was informed by TCS Human Resource Development (HRD) Secretary Dosh Dashi, who is in constant touch with the team through satellite phones.

Dashi said that the 13 members also include eight porters, who reached the base camp at 11 am today from Kyalai Camp near here. Moreover, the team is also planning to reach Camp-I on Sunday by noon.

"Further, the team is planning to reach camp-II on Monday morning if the weather is suitable. The team will search for the 3-coil rope dumped by Tapi Mra last year nearby camp II," he said, adding that the plan is also to search the rock wall alongside the LAC. Doshi said that the health condition of the members is well, and is regularly being checked by Dr Tadie Mra. The doctor is a family member of the missing and had accompanied the team earlier.

"There was rainfall till October 14. However, no rainfall is expected the next day till noon. The entire update is being provided by team leader Tagit Sorang through satellite phone," he added.
