Senior Journalist Taro Chatung Laid to Rest in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Pioneer of electronic media and senior journalist Taro Chatung was laid to rest at his native village at Ziro, the headquarters of Lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh. His last rites were performed as per rituals of Apatani tribe of the district, family sources informed. Chatung passed away on October 26 at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun, near here, after prolonged illness.

He was 57 year old and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. His body was taken to his native village on Saturday and kept for the public to pay their last respect. Hundreds of people joined the last rites to pay their last respect to the departed soul. Without thinking of monitory gains, Chatung followed his passion and became one of the first to direct and produce a full-length feature film in Arunachalee Hindi.

With his ‘News & Views’ breaking all records in terms of viewership, he could be well called as the father of electronic media in Arunachal Pradesh.

The media fraternity of the state under the aegis of Arunachal Press Club, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association (AEDMA) have paid their last respect to the departed soul at Press Club here on Saturday.
