Shelter festival inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh

SAGALEE: Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress (APMCC) inaugurated chain of “Shelter Festival” starting with Ngudang-Juha to Parang Village under Sagalee Constituency on Monday. President APMCC Nabam Yakum informed that the festival is not only to celebrate the harvesting of first fruit; in fact it shows the hardship that women have contributed in the field. “The whole country talk about farmers feeding the people of the nation but do the nation has ever thought of making provisions and giving subsidies to rural women farmers?, Yakum questioned. She also informed that a total 33% of invisible Women cultivator and 47% of women agricultural laborers are behind the million tones of agricultural production in the state. “It is time for the government to acknowledge and recognize the role of women in agriculture,” Yakum stressed.
