ITANAGAR: The Indigenous Movement against Corruption and Reformation (IMACR) has demanded that the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) district administration should forward the PDS rice re-packaging and black-marketing case to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) for further investigation.
Addressing mediapersons at the press club here on Thursday, IMACR chairmen Raj Pao claimed that several quintals of PDS rice from capital region are being sent to Assam for re-packaging. The re-packaging activities are also being executed in some shops of capital region. After re packaging, the PDS rice is sent back to retails shops of capital region and is being sold in open market.
"The stores and shops where such activity was done were earlier sealed during a raid. However, the stores are now functioning without any legal action being taken against them by the concerned department and district administration," he said, adding that the IMACR should have been informed about it.
On December 2, 2021 a team of IMACR along with officials of Food and Civil Supply Department raided all the PDS stores, wholesale shops and agencies of the twin capital and also sealed some stores for indulging in black marketing.
"Now, we demanded that district administration forward the matter to SIC and check the details records of one year's GST income tax return of those stores. Surprisingly, the district administration is not ready to act on the request," he said.
He also said the IMACR has decided upon a democratic movement in the form of a dharna against the district administration on February 15, outside the Deputy Commissioner's office.
