ITANAGAR: Around six truck drivers have so far been tested COVID-19 in the past three days at various checkpoints in the State. Speaking to the reporters though a virtual conference, Arunachal Pradesh Secretary Health, P Parthiban on Saturday informed that said that there is a possibility of the spread of coronavirus through the infected bus and truck drivers but it will never be a threat to the whole State.

He said that while some of the truck drivers from Assam delivering essential commodities, who tested COVID-19 positive, have been shifted to the nearest COVID Care Centre (CCC) in Assam others have been kept in Lekhi CCC. One bus driver from Lohit district was tested positive earlier, he added. He further said that 'Rapid Antigen Test' is made compulsory for every person, truck and bus driver entering the State. "The shop vendors and other vulnerable areas of infection are being tested. The transmission areas are being identified and the necessary containment policy is being implemented accordingly," he said.

"We are sure that in a week we will take all possible care for those who tested positive but are asymptomatic," he said while adding that, according to the numbers and containment area, the government will take any decision related to further lockdown. He also informed that Rapid Antigen Tests are also being carried out of those Army personnel who had completed five days of institutional quarantine. They have also been provided with antigen kits, he added. He further informed that in the last two weeks around 13,235 random Rapid Antigen Tests have been done in the Capital Region and Naharlagun and 314 people have tested positive.
