Social Audit Under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGNREGA) Completed In Tawang

Itanagar: The social audit for completed schemes under MGNREGA for the financial year 2016-17 and 2017-18 for 48 Gram Panchayats in six blocks of Tawang district has been done during the current financial year by the social audit unit of Tawang district.

In continuation of the process, the social audit unit conducted social audit exit conference in the conference hall of Tawang DC. Tawang DC Sang Phuntsok, who is also the district programme coordinator (DPC), chaired the meeting on Friday which was attended by all the programme officers (BDOs) and officials of CD blocks in the district, an official communique informed.

Phuntsok asked the concerned BDOs (Programme Officers) to meet up the observations given by the social audit unit and show their performance. He further instructed the POs to compulsorily link ADHAAR with beneficiary job cards, and issue payment slips as per instructions of the government.

“Citizen information board must be there in all the completed works,” the DC said and asked the POs to ensure about it for more employment generation.

Phuntsok also asked the POs to focus on agricultural related works. Keeping in view the crops being destroyed by wild boar and other wild animals, the DC asked the POs to focus on protection of agricultural fields and encourage horticultural farmers towards walnut cultivation, the communique added.
