Sufficient stock of rice in every district of State, says Arunachal government

Guwahati: After reports surfaced in media platforms that a certain group of people in Arunachal Pradesh are killing King Cobras for meals as there is no rice left to eat due to current lockdown in Arunachal Pradesh, the State government on Tuesday clarified that there is sufficient stock of rice in every district of the State. The government said that the stock of rice can last for least three more months.

Since the lockdown, the Indian Air Force has carried out multiple sorties for lifting rice to remote locations in Arunachal Pradesh. The State government has also used its helicopter for the said purpose.

The FCI has also provided more than 1, 000 MT of rice for open market sales in various districts. Besides the Government of India has allocated more than 12,000 MT of food grains under PMGKAY to Arunachal Pradesh.

Around 20,000 persons have received free ration in various districts of Arunachal Pradesh since the lockdown has announced. All officials are available round the clock for any kind of clarification on COVID-19 related issues. (PIB)
