ITANAGAR: The Capital Police has arrested two more persons in connection with the planned murder of Techi Meena Lishi.

The two arrested on Tuesday have been identified as Vijay Biswas (30) a.k.a Dengu, a permanent resident of Noagaon (Assam), and Chumi Taya (26), a permanent resident of Kamle district.

The duo have been arrested after interrogation during which it was found that the three mobile phones used exclusively as part of the conspiracy to eliminate late Meena were bought and delivered by the duo to the main conspirator Roni Lishi, informed Capital SP Jimmy Chiram.

"Based on the investigation, we have found that the equipment used in the conspiracy was handled by them and there is a high probability that they were linked in the case," said SP Chiram.

With today's arrest, the total number of persons arrested in connection with the case has gone up to seven in total. Out of the seven arrested, one is under judicial custody and the remaining six is under police custody.

SP Chiram informed that the remaining six persons will also be sent to judicial custody once 14 days police remand is over.

Commenting on the pace of the investigation, SP Chiram said that they are happy with the progress made in the case so far under the leadership of SDPO Naharlagun, and Nurjuli PS OC Minli Geyi who is the investigating officer of the case. The case investigation is also being monitored by higher officials concerned for a fast investigation, he added. The SP further informed that since the incident is based on a planned conspiracy, the investigation has become complicated but the police team concerned is up for the challenge, and will soon file a charge-sheet. Earlier on November 5, the body of late Meena was found along the Karsingsa highway inside a crashed car with injuries indicating foul play.
