Guwahati: In a massive gun fire exchange, three militants of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Khaplang (NSCN-K) naturalized in an encounter with the Assam rifles in Longding area of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.

Reportedly, these militants had come there with a motive to abduct but acting on a tip-off, the Assam rifles, carried out the operation resulting in killing of three militants.

However, the operation is still underway to nab the remaining terrorists.

Notably, in a joint search operation carried out by the Assam rifles and Manipur police a total of 20 rounds of M-79 grenades were also recovered hidden in a jute bag prior to this encounter.

Just two days back, the Commanding Officer of 46 Assam Rifles and his family, including his wife and son, were killed in an ambush while travelling through Behiang in Churachandpur district.

The commanding officer has been identified as Colonel Viplav Tripathi. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the perpetrators would be "brought to justice".

"Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on a convoy of 46 AR which has reportedly killed few personnel including the CO & his family at CCpur today. The State forces & Para military are already on their job to track down the militants," he had tweeted.
