Two-day workshop for Forest officials concludes at Bordumsa

BORDUMSA: The two-day workshop on capacity building for Forest officials, especially for the officials of Namdapha National Park (Tiger Reserve), Miao, concluded here on Friday evening. The workshop was attended by L Longvah, Inspector General (Forest), National Tiger Conservation Authority, Regional Office, Guwahati along with DP Bankhwal, retired PCCF (Wildlife) Assam, Agatha C Momin, Biologist NTCA, T Riba, Field Director, Miao and P Tangha, AFD among others.

The main objective of the workshop was to improve convictions in wildlife offenses through quality complaint filing in legal forums. The officials were thoroughly trained on crime-scenario investigation procedures and offence report writing to strengthen the legal battle for conviction of the criminal.

Apart from educating the officials on ways to work efficiently without depending on others, the resource persons focused on crime investigation, recording and preparing complaints for trials.

The resource persons explored ways to build the capacity of officials by sharing their field experience on wildlife crime for the betterment of the protection of the Namdapha National Park.

This is the first of it’s kind workshop on the investigation of offense and report writing for the frontline staff of Namdapha National Park (Tiger Reserve).
