Two Dead As Hostel Wall Collapses In Namtsering Village

TAWANG: Two girl students lost their life while two were seriously injured and one suffered minor injury when the hostel wall collapsed while they were sleeping at the Government Residential Upper Primary School in Namtsering village under Dudungkhar circle of Lungla sub-division on Thursday. The wall of the hostel couldn’t resist the landslide that occurred due to incessant rains in the last couple of days.

The students who died were identified as Genden Wangmu (10) of class VI and Rinchin Lhamu (10) of class V. Sangey Pema (12) of class VII and Lhakpa Eton of class VI were seriously injured. There were a total of 19 girls sleeping in the hostel.

SP Tawang, ADC Lungla along with SDMO immediately rushed to the spot, while the officials from the Education Department and district administration also visited and meet the family members of the children. The mortal remains of the two children were sent to Khandro Drowa Tsangmo district hospital, Tawang for post mortem, while the injured have been admitted to the Community Health Centre, Dudungkhar.
