ITANAGAR: The United Arunachal Indigenous Form (UAIPF) has appealed to the State Election Commission to maintain the policy of 'One Person, One Vote' by deleting the bogus names from the voters' list.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club here, UAIPF president Laffe Paffa said, "The policy of 'One Person-One Vote-One Value' must be followed to ensure free and fair election in the State especially during the Panchayat and Municipal poll time." He alleged, "The menace of 'double voting' has lead to various complications in governance."

"It has been observed that voters in their home constituency enter their names into another list without deleting or removing their names from the previous lists thus leading to the growth of double vote," he said, while appealing to the authority concerned to closely monitor such illegal acts.

Laffe also said that the influx of voters from non-APST areas into the territory of various constituencies has also made a negative impact on the masses choosing the right political leader.

He said that Arunachal Pradesh is a tribal State where election provides a way for the tribal voters to choose their leaders by casting their votes ensuring that the will of the tribal people is reflected in the elected candidate.

"A memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Governor and Chief Electoral Officer regarding the double vote issue," he added.
