Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju flags off ambulances to 2 districts of Arunachal

Itanagar: In a major boost to the health sector in interior areas of the State, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday flagged off five ambulances for West Siang and Shi-Yomi districts.

Rijiju, the Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs (Independent) flagged off the ambulances through video conference from New Delhi in presence of top officials of ONGC. Out of the five ambulances, two are meant for Nikte and Liromoba health centers in West Siang district while the remaining three are for Tato, Monigong and Mechuka health centers in Shi-Yomi district.

The ambulance is funded by ONGC under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme under the initiative of Rijiju, an official communique said here.

In his address to the people, Rijiju said that ONGC had been helping the people of this frontier state in all noble causes whenever approached.

The Union Minister thanked the Union Petroleum Ministry for all help to materialize the scheme.

“The ambulances will give a huge boost to the health sector to evacuate patients in far-flung areas for immediate medical support,” Rijiju said and urged the district administration and health department to keep the ambulances in good condition to cater to the needs of the people of remote areas.

West Siang deputy commissioner Swetika Sachan who flagged off the ambulances on ground expressed her gratitude to Rijiju for placing five ambulances that would help to evacuate emergency cases to General Hospital at Aalo, the communique added.
