‘United People's Party Liberal-led BTR government committed to people’

KOKRAJHAR: General Secretary (Administrative) of UPPL Raju Kr. Narzary on Friday claimed that the BTR government led by UPPL was committed for the sustainable development of people of the region and has re-established permanent peace among all sections of people.

In a press meet held at party office, Kokrajhar, the general secretary said the present BTR government had reformed the system of council government, eliminated the corrupt practices and brought significant changes in various sectors with comprehensive policies. He said several thousands of families of indigenous people have been given land pattas under Forest Rights Act, 2016 and land rights to citizens of the region and thus bringing solution to land related problems. He said for higher education, the BTR government had taken up Bodoland Super-50 for aspirants of engineering, medical, UPSC and APSC who hail from poor and underprivileged families and free coaching classes are being given to them. He also claimed that the results of free coaching were very significant and 9,200 students from BPL families have been given Rs. 5000 each under “Onsai” Bithangkhi through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode. Under the same scheme, Rs. 5000 each to 200 ST, 200 SC, 200 OBC women vendors in each constituency have been given through DBT to 1,20,000 beneficiaries till date.

Narzary said the government of Assam led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma had declared and observed March 31, the birthday of Bodofa UN Brahma as the “Students’ Day” of Assam from this year and Bodo language has become associate official language of Assam. He said the extension of boundary of BTR to Sonitpur and Biswanath districts had been under process while the notification of villages and constituencies of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) is notified and withdrawal of cases of NDFB members are being examined, he said adding that every clause of BTR accord is going to be implemented one after another. He blamed former chief of BTC for misdeeds, corruption and domination and claimed that the present BTR government had been working for all round development for all communities.
