Itanagar: A high-level team of official language inspection committee of University Grants Commission (UGC) led by its Joint Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar Khanduri along with three other members including, Section Officer Daial Krishna Sharma, PS Punam Kalara and Advisor Ursela Minz visited the Rajiv Gandhi University here on Friday to inspect the use of official language- Hindi.
A meeting was held at the university, a press release informed here on Saturday. RGU Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha, Registrar Professor Tomo Riba, Administrative Officers, Deans and HoDs of various departments attended the meeting.
Emphasizing on the need for Hindi in official work like file noting, letter writing, etc. the UGC officers stated that Hindi is the official language so as a central university it should follow rules as decided by the government.
The VC in his deliberation, called for gearing up for the visit of parliamentary official language inspection committee by staying updated and adopting tools like lila, typing software, etc in official works.
UGC Joint secretary Dr Ajay Kumar emphasized on the use of e-governance and e-office. He stated that there is a need to provide skill developing center where Hindi speaking, writing, typing, can be trained.
He also advised the Arunachalee people to preserve their local dialect by using devnagri script.
Advisor Ursela Minz highlighted and pointed out some specific goals that the university should achieve as per UGC official language guideline.
RGU’s Hindi Officer Gumpi Nguso, briefly showed a PowerPoint presentation regarding the performance of university regarding the usage of Hindi language. The UGC team which is here for two days also inspected all the departments of the university during the day.
