US Defence Report Mentions Chinese Village In Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: The yearly US Department of Defense report on military activities involving China describes the US impression of tensions along the Line of Actual Control, or LAC, and mentions the establishment of a 100-home Chinese town in Arunachal Pradesh. The report was sent to the United States Congress.

In the Defense report it was mentioned that the village of 100 homes was created in a disputed area in Arunachal Pradesh North Eastern sector of Line of Actual Control around somewhat 2020. "These and other infrastructure development projects along the India-China border have caused anxiety in the Indian administration and media," the study reads.

The hamlet in issue is located on the banks of the Tsari Chu River in Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district, a place where India and Chinese forces clashed even before the 1962 conflict. The area has been in concentration of China since over a decade but the situation worsen after China decided to construct a full fledged village with construction of proper road activities.

The report states China has continued to take progressive and strategic efforts to assert its claims along the Line of Actual Control. Earlier month, Lieutenant General Manoj Pande, the Eastern Army Command Chief, informed officials in Arunachal Pradesh that China is continuing to build "dual-use" border communities that may also be used to place soldiers.

According to China reports, the construction of this 100 homes village is a multi billion dollar project to improve infrastructure in the Tibetan Region. This involves the construction of enormous road and rail facilities to border towns, as well as a proposal to establish over 600 completely constructed townships in the region, according to reports.

The site came to notice after the deadliest clash between China and India last year in June. Around 20 Indian soldiers were killed and 40 soldiers of China were either killed or injured.
