Itanagar: Vedagam village is the remotest polling booth under Tezu-Sunpura assembly constituency in Lohit district even 32 years after Arunachal Pradesh attained full-fledged statehood.
Despite connectivity remaining most important promise by candidates in every election, people would trek 45-km distance from the district headquarters Tezu to reach the village to ensure 57 voters cast their voters.
The village lacks motorable road and the route passes through Hazu, Paya, Veda and Tekhi streams. The village remains totally cut off. But with streams mostly dried up and few with knee-deep water level would make it easy for movement, District Returning Officer (DRO) -cum-sector magistrate J Rando said, adding the team would trek 12-km from Bhekuliang. However, tractors would be hired to transport men and materials in case of rains, the DRO said who has been supervising and monitoring to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.
