Violent storm leaves trails of destruction in Namsai

ITANAGAR: A violent storm that reportedly hit the Namsai district on Sunday night left trails of destruction in many places of the district.

According to sources from Namsai, the storm accompanied by rain uprooted several trees and damaged dwelling houses.

The storm wind blew off the roofs of a number of houses and also destroyed high-tension electric towers. However, there was no report of any casualty. “The storm accompanied by heavy rains caused extensive damage to property in Namsai district, especially in Piyong circle. Over 50 houses and property worth lakhs of rupees were damaged including tea garden areas, paddy godowns and anganwadi centres,” the source informed. “We hope that the district administration will take necessary steps to help out those who had lost their homes and many other things in last night’s storm,” the sources added.
