Itanagar: 21-year-old Togley Singkam from Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district, who was reportedly abducted by Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on March 19, has broken his silence on the torture he was subjected to by the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Singkam, a resident of Taksing near the Indo-China border, earns his livelihood in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh working as a porter. He has also assisted the government and military authorities in ferrying essentials as his superior knowledge of the treacherous terrain proves invaluable when it comes to traversing these treacherous terrains.

His life took a turn on March 19 this year - months before India-China military faceoff began along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh - as he was abducted by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The youth says that he was taken captive by the PLA troops from the Indian side of the border while he was roaming in the area. He was then was forced to bend on knees, his hands tied to his neck, and eyes blindfolded.

Discussing his ordeal with a news channel, he said that he could not run away as the PLA had come in huge numbers. He says that the troopers made him sit on the floor, tied his hands at the back with the neck, wrapped his face, and whisked him away.

When his eyes opened, he says, he was in a Chinese camp. Singkam says that the Chinese tied him up to a bed and beat him mercilessly.

The Chinese then transported him to their territory. When he opened his eyes, he found himself sitting in a wooden chair in a dark room, where he was subjected to kicking, slapping and electric shocks by the Chinese.

"I was kept in a dark room for entire 15 days. I was not allowed to close my eyes. Slapping, beating, shocks...everything was there," he said.

He says that he was made to sit on a chair and not allowed to close his eyes for even a fraction of a second. He was reportedly given electric shocked and forced to confess that he was an Indian spy.

He says he would be given electric shocks if he closed his eyes for even a second. Moreover, his hands were tied to the chair at all times, and he was only allowed to get up to use the toilet.

There are boards along the India-China border which are put up at certain strategic locations to identify the Indian territory to keep locals safe and secure in the boundary.

Believing that Togley Singkam was a part of the intelligence system of India, the PLA of China which even tried matching his handwriting with pictures of these boards.

They did his handwriting test also, and he was given sheets to write because they wanted to ensure if he was the one writing along the border and putting up boards at some places.

The youth says that China only wanted hime to accept that he was working for the Indian Army, clicking photo of the area and revealing secret locations.

The Arunachalee youth was finally released after the intervention by the Indian Army. The central government took up his case and sent his Aadhaar card details to them. After his release, he has claimed that the Chinese Army usually harasses people in the border areas, and take people into custody on false allegations.
