Itanagar: A preparedness and also coordination meeting of returning officers (ROs), assistant returning officers, sector and nodal officers, district level master trainers, and others were conducted on Monday in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting was held at the DC office in Bomdila, the district headquarters. The meeting was conducted in view of the assembly and general elections due later this year.
West Kameng district election officer Akriti Sagar, who chaired the meeting, directed all the sector officers to physically visit their respective polling stations and ensure that they have all the facilities for conducting the voting process smoothly.
If there are any infrastructure issues, such as shifting of polling booths or renaming, they should be reported as early as possible so that issues can be resolved in time, she said.
She said the electoral voting machines (EVMs) must be demonstrated in every assembly constituency, ensuring that the EVMs are pasted with the yellow sticker for identification, indicating the EVM is only for training and demonstration use. Sagar also urged the participants not to skip any training related to the election.
“We should not believe in any rumours, and if there is any doubt, it must be clarified with respective returning officers,” she added. In the meeting, officers also discussed SVEEP activities, training for district level master trainers, new election rules, election management plans, root mapping and others.
